The following terms and conditions of hire apply to all U-drive (drive yourself) charters.
A master mariners ticket is not required, however Coastal Charters reserves the right to accept or decline applications for hire. Minimum age for a U-drive skipper is 25 years. Minimum experience required Boatmaster or similar or similar qualification.
Safety equipment is carried on board at all times. The minimum weight for life jackets is 26kg. The hirer acknowledges they are responsible for the safety of and the safety briefing for passengers and crew, and for the provision of lifejackets or suitable buoyancy assistance for children under this weight. (The Coastguard hires infant life preservers.)

Valet Charges
A cleaning deposit fee of $120 will be charged at the onset of your charter but will be reimbursed if the boat is left in a clean, tidy condition and all refuse removed.
Insurance Excess / Security Bond For insurance purpose a bond of $2000 is required before departure (usually left as an open Visa or MasterCard credit card). Provided there is no loss or damage to the vessel or equipment, the bond will be refunded, less fuel, within 7 days of the completion of the charter.Deposit And Confirmation Of BookingCharter is confirmed upon receipt of one-third deposit of the total charter fee and acceptance of the booking application by Coastal Charters. Bookings made less than 14 days prior to departure must be fully paid at the time of booking. Balance Of Charter FeesBalance of charter fee and excess / security bond is payable minimum of 14 days prior to departure. Cancellation Of Booking Upon cancellation of a charter by the hirer, the charter fee will only will be refunded on the following terms:
• More than 30 days written notice – 85% of fee refunded
• Less than 30 days written notice – no refund unless a substitute booking is obtained.
Cancellations by either party due to bad weather will result in a postponement of the charter. No refund is payable.
Pre Charter BriefingIt is important that the skipper and mate attend the pre charter brief at the time specified, preferably in advance of charter and prior to arrival of passengers. Briefing takes approximately one hour to complete boat handling instructions. In compliance with Safe Ship Management Coastal Charters provide charts, safety equipment, an inventory list and a thorough familiarisation of the vessel and the cruising area. Time ExclusionsThe vessel is hired on the condition that it is driven during daylight hours, with clear visibility. The vessel is to be securely moored before dusk. Motoring at night is not permitted unless in an emergency, when there is a safety risk to either passengers or vessel. Motoring in vision impaired conditions of heavy rain or fog is not permitted. Alcohol ConsumptionThe skipper warrants that he/she will not consume any alcohol, nor use any drugs, which may impair judgement, during the entire hire period.Anchoring And WinchesTo ensure the safety of the vessel and it’s contents, under no circumstances is the vessel to be left unattended at night and must be kept in view, if going ashore during daylight hours.
The vessel is not to be anchored in depths over 15m using the chain anchor. The rope anchor is to be used for deeper water anchorages. (Please note, burnt out anchor winches and lost anchors are the hirer’s responsibility with regards to repair and replacement) Animals And FirearmsAnimals and firearms are not permitted on the vessel.Smoking
For your safety and the comfort of others, smoking is not permitted inside the vessels cabin or accommodation areas.DivingAll dive bottles must have rubber boots and preferably bagged. The provision of a suitable bin for weight belts, catch bags etc is required. A maximum of 6 dive bottles is allowed. DifficultiesAt any time before or during the charter, should, in the sole opinion of Coastal Charters, the hirer’s actions of lack thereof indicate the hirers experience might not be considered adequate to skipper this vessel? Coastal Charters reserves the right to cancel this charter and / or provide a professional skipper at the hirer’s expense. In the event this clause is invoked, no refund is available for any unused portion of the charter. Liability
Coastal Charters undertakes to perform these services with reasonable care and skill and will not be liable for any loss or damage which results from the act, default or omission of any person other than Coastal Charters employees or agents. Coastal Charters is not responsible for any act of God, weather disruptions, on water event postponement, dangers incidental to the sea, fire, ship wreck, collision, boating accident, running aground, on board accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of governments or other authorities de jure or de facto, wars whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, deaths, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines or medical or customs regulations. Coastal Charters cannot guarantee the positioning of the vessel for any on-water activity/entertainment. The hirer indemnifies Coastal Charters against any claim made against it, themselves or their guests where such claim relates to loss or damage suffered on the charter vessel or to other vessels. The hirer agrees to pay for any damage or cleaning costs attributable to them, or their guests while on board the vessel. Coastal Charters acts only as an agent/facilitator for the boat or event operator and the charterer agrees therefore that Coastal Charters accepts no liability for any loss whatsoever suffered by the charterer.
Parking
Z Pier has pay and display parking. In addition, some spaces are reserved for car-trailer combinations. There are signs in the car park. Please read them, pay the fee and park accordingly. Coastal Charters accepts no responsibility whatsoever for damage, or towed-away cars. Please bring plenty of coins with you.
